Introduction
“Strive even to death for the truth”
Językiem konferencji jest polski i angielski. Wystąpienia w języku angielskim będą tłumaczone na język polski.
How can our homeland respond, in moral terms, to the challenges of a rapidly ageing society? This is the fundamental question we wish to explore together during the conference “End-of-Life Care: Ethics, Practice, and Challenges”.
We warmly invite you to take part in this important and much-needed event. We wish to open a difficult but essential discussion on the defence of human dignity at the close of earthly life. In Poland, where the awareness of the sanctity of human life and of human dignity is still alive, the subject ought to meet with strong resistance — yet, as numerous references to euthanasia in Polish popular culture make clear, it does not.
We believe the time has come for a courageous and honest reflection. It is with great joy and gratitude that we welcome the distinguished speakers from Poland and abroad who have accepted our invitation.
Among our international guests are Theresa Lynch of the United Kingdom — President of the Association of Catholic Nurses of England and Wales and founder and leader of Nurses Opposed to Euthanasia — and Jasmin Lemieux-Lefebvre from Quebec, Canada — coordinator of the citizens’ network Vivre dans la Dignité / Living with Dignity, which for years has defended human dignity against the expansion of euthanasia.
Their experience will be particularly valuable in light of Canada’s MAiD programme, which has already cost the lives of 100,000 people, and of the intense political debate currently under way in the United Kingdom.
Following the international guests, we will invite Polish speakers who are deeply familiar with the moral landscape and the legal framework shaping our society.
The conference will be a space for both deep reflection and open, lively discussion. We will do our best to ensure an atmosphere that encourages questions and a genuine exchange of ideas — as befits an academic meeting rooted in truth and in concern for the human person.
The event is co-organized by the Instytut Myśli Pro-Life, the Pontifical University of John Paul II, and the Fr. Piotr Skarga Association of Christian Culture.
The conference will be held in Polish and English.
We warmly invite you to review the programme and to take an active part in the conference on 21 November 2026 in Kraków. Join us! Let us stand together in defence of the dignity of every human person — to the very end.
See you in Kraków!
